Working from a design specification of the "look" of the main pages and under contract we built the latest NCADD website. This site has been live for over a year and through our guidance and great content from the NCADD staff we have increased the average daily traffic by a factor of seven. This custom design involved writing custom Joomla modules for the two types of animated menus, an accordion for the homepage and drop down on the internal pages. There are also several significant Joomla components providing the event calender with automated on-line registration.
The site took a busy two months to complete and get approved for launch, it is now maintained by us under a support contract. References are available.
The original site was a conventional site custom built using HTML with some scripting. It was effectively a static site because any updates needed to be done by a webmaster who had the tools and experience with their site. Consequently it was not updated much and provided minimal news value. One of the major features of the new site is its observance to the Web 2.0 philosophy. This means it supports different users adding content themselves and the use of RSS feeds. It now has up wards of 40 new articles each month and interacts with visitors through quiz's and advanced search functions. Not viable to the general visitors are the many pages and sections of the site designed for the NCADD Affiliates.
We continue to support the site providing advice and assistance to the NCADD staff who routinely add content and updates to the site. We also help plan and track the SEO plans. This involves producing a full monthly report detailing and summarizing the website statistics and how the search engines rate the site. This partnership has worked well to increase the visibility of the site and improve its ratings.
Recently we have started to link to NCADD Affiliate sites by providing them topical and factual news feeds using RSS. This has helped spread the work done by NCADD and improve the experience of many of the Affiliate websites. Take a look at the NCADD development and appreciate how this good website design has worked for them.
